Blessing or Blasphemy

So, I was looking for something on this wonderful internet of ours, and I came across this page. Now, this guy, whoever he is, believes very strongly in his subject matter. He's written a lot of things. But the sad thing is, he's way off the mark. If you can't be bothered to go through the whole thing (and I wouldn't blame you), I'll sum it up. Our man tells us that Christian Rock is inspired by the occult. The bad news, it seems, is that I'm not Saved. According to this guy, if you listen to rock, be it Christian or otherwise, neither are you Here's what he says:
Only backslidden, carnal Christians, who refuse to yield to the Holy Spirit, could ever think rock music was the will of God.
Hmmm.. I could go on and on with this stuff, but I think you get the idea. Read the whole thing if you want. It seems to me that it's really just rather sad that he's spent so much time trying to defame these people who are using the gifts that God has given them, and openly proclaiming the Gospel, whether that's apparent in their lyrics, or just in the interviews that they give.

His argument is riddled with holes, and is clearly one-sided, giving no thought to the counter-argument. He quotes only part of song lyrics, and takes them out of context. He calls Christian artists 'Blasphemers' repeatedly, and even refers to Keith Greene(among others) as an Occultist (without proof to back up this claim).

But the saddest thing is he often uses events in these artists' lives, where they have openly acknowledged their own sin, as proof that they cannot be Christians. Our expert, who seems to use the Bible to back up his points so well, seems to have missed out the most important, central truth in the Gospel. If you ask God for forgiveness, and you proclaim Jesus to be the Son of God, and accept him as your Saviour, NONE OF IT MATTERS ANYMORE. We're all sinners, NO EXCEPTIONS. Thank God that Jesus died on the cross and took my sins, because I'd be screwed if he hadn't...

I though it had to be hoax at first, but I checked the parent site. Oh dear. Particulaly amusing was a section called "666 Watch". Or maybe not so amusing...

This bit particularly amused me

"Like the group dc Talk... Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, " . . .there is NO NEW THING under the sun." But that was before dc Talk came along, as they sing, "God is doin' a NU THANG through our music" (they can't spell either!)."

Despite being a terrible argument on its own, what about Isiah 43:19?

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland."

God bless america. I'm staying here

oh dear. What a guy. I particularly disliked what he had to say about Sandi Patti. She "earns" $75,000 for a two hour show, which she no doubts takes a good chunk of. But she also pays her musicians, roadies, techies, and the like, providing ample pay for their talents. What a sinner. I can hardly believe it. Also, I would, have, hoped that a guy who, spent "thousands of hours" researching, r,o,c,k, music, would, al,so have taken the time, to learn how, to use a, comma.
This article is rife with bitterness. I hope this guy isn't just a jilted rock musician who never made it. I mean really, he seams sooo passionate about what he's doing that you would hope that some good would come of it.

Oh, also, he complains that DC TALK thinks God is doing a new thang through their music. His point; There is nothing new under the sun. This would imply that Rock music us not new, despite this guy's claim that it came about in the early 50's. God bless you dude, I think you're wrong about this.

Don't even get me started on this hater. At least he's passionate...?

Hey, is wavy davy Simon Davy?
If so, can I get his autograph?

B:)

I didn't say "At least he's passionate." I said "he seems soooo passionate." And I think that it's a shame to see intense passion misdirected in such an evil way. Come on B, give me a little credit here ;0)

I think (although I may be incorrect here) that Bethany was trying to make the same point as you - he's passionate about it, but it's done him no good. Same goes for Pudd's blog. And yes, that was Simon Davy, lead guitarist from the Salvator Darlings...

Heehee... I wan't referring to your comment, Jake. I was genuinely pointing that at least this man seems passionate, but I was also slightly confused. Not wanting to appluad him or what he stands for, but trying to cut him some slack at the same time because he amused me. Questioning my own opinion, or lack of one, really...

Anyway, I'm glad we've established that it was Simon Davy who commented here. Right here on my boyfriend's blog! Mark, you are so lucky.

Sometimes I feel so misunderstood
:o(
I was trying to say that he's passionately against rock music, and it's not necessarily bad to be passionately against something, but in this guy's case it doesn't seem to be bearing any fruit. Gosh, I thought you folks would have got what I was trying to say, but I guess not. I need new friends.

p.s.- this comment is actually my way of apologizing for making the assumption that you beloved friends have not understood me, when it is now clear that you have. I thought I would clear up the issue by pretending to take it a step closer.

p.p.s- did anyone notice that I explained myself again, assuming that you wouldn't get the joke? I need help.

hahahahahahahahahahaaaa. I'm laughing at something else. Back to your comment- what did you just say? I just wasn't listening...and didn't really get it.

JOKING! If you get new friends...you'll be sorry...
well, unless they're totally loving and encouraging and fun and stuff...*sniffle*...fine.

You nugget! You know full well that I meant the article that you linked to on your blog. Although I'm now fairly convinced that the one you linked to is a hoax...

Easy, easy. Pudd, you know fully well that Mark's parents are English, and therefore never get passionate about anything. So relax, take comfort in the fact that you come from a Country where the sun actually comes out, and leave Mark alone will ya? Yeesh.
